Middle School Student Fatally Stabs Student

The Facts

Two middle school girls had a fight in school during a passing period. One utilized a knife, stabbing the other girl several times. An artery was struck and the girl died at the scene. Several children observed the event. Psychological impacts were significant for those who witnessed what occurred, including a school police officer (brand new to the job- one year out of the academy), the school nurse and Clinic Aid who administered responsive first aid, and several students. 

Our Response

The insured received the following services:

  • CrisisRisk coordinated the direct payment of funeral expenses with the funeral home, liaising with the victim's mother and aunt throughout the process
  • Counseling was offered to the victim's family as well as numerous employees, including the SRO, Assistant Principal, Custodian, Counselors, Nurse, Clinic Aid and other faculty Students, faculty and staff were given access to a 24/7 counseling line
