During after-school activities, a middle school student jumped the fence of a football field during flag football practice. He initiated a verbal altercation with a female student and then pulled out a pistol and hit the female student with it. He then fled the scene. School went into lock-down and police responded. There were many impacted sports teams that were outside practicing, as well as students in lockdown, resulting in stress for students and their families. The victim and the perpetrator were/are part of the same “friend” group of adolescents.
